Dr. Divana Olivas is an Assistant Professor of Chicana/o Studies at the University of New Mexico. Her research and writing sit at the intersections of critical ethnic studies, food and environmental justice, and community-engaged history. Her work has appeared in Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies, Edible New Mexico, and Food, Culture & Society, among other publications. Dr. Olivas is a Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellow, a recipient of the Western History Association’s Sara Jackson Award, and a recipient of the University of Southern California’s Richard Cone Award for graduate engaged scholarship. A proud McNair alumna and Albuquerque native, she is especially honored to return to the McNair Research Conference as this year’s emcee.
